Having awareness is becoming a rare skill in this day and age. An old Chinese proverb states that “the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now”. These two quotes are an indication of how important it is for us, as people, to take action and make decisions in order for our futures not to be decided by others. We have the power within ourselves to change our lives if we have the desire to change them enough.

There are many factors that can affect your life’s outcome including intelligence levels, education levels, family background and genetics among other things but you have control over what you do with these factors. You can use them or let them use you. The two quotes about planting a tree 20 years ago and now have a very important message. It’s never too late for success even if it does seem so at first glance.

We have the power within ourselves to change our lives if we want them changed enough. The best way to predict the future is to create it.

The power of change begins with having the awareness of the present moment. This statement is very accurate because it’s a fact that we all have habits and past experiences that can affect how we live our lives in this moment. We have the ability to choose what we do with those habits and past experiences. It may seem difficult to take action at first, but if you make up your mind about what you want for yourself and your life, then success will come as long as you work hard enough.

Awareness is such a powerful tool that can be used to maintain behaviours and create habits. The following steps could help you keep your awareness at a high level:

1) Keep reminding yourself that you’re in control of your life

2) Get rid of those who don’t want you to change and surround yourself with people who do

3) Give out compliments to other people every day

4) Talk about your goals and thoughts- verbalising them will make them more real and achievable

It is our responsibility to analyse our situation and choose if it is a wise choice or not, and take measures accordingly. Awareness can be used as a powerful tool that will maintain behaviours and create habits in order for us to achieve success. We have the power within ourselves to change our lives if we are willing to make changes despite any of the obstacles present. It may seem difficult for some people but with enough determination you can break through your barriers! The best way to predict the future is by creating it- what do you want?
